- Imagine how you would feel being introduced as someone you didn't know and write about it.
- Write about a time someone wouldn't stop talking to you. What did you do? What did you want to do? Write in great detail, focusing on one or two of your reactions. (If this hasn't happened to you yet, you are either very young or very forgetful -- at any rate, imagine what you would do...)
- Observe a dog or other pet and write from its perspective. Imagine what it feels and thinks about. Use dialogue if it helps get your perspective across.
- Pretend that you've been speaking to yourself all day. What were your topics and conclusions? Did you solve any world problems? Get rid of some bad friends? Make some new friends?
- It's graduation day. Write about all the conflicting feelings you either had or anticipate in light of this momentous occasion.
- It's become apparent that you will have to leave your home. Describe how you feel as you pack up your bags and ready yourself for many goodbyes.
- An old friend has contacted you. Describe the conversation you have as you reunite.
- You've found a picture of yourself in an old outfit you haven't worn in years. Describe memories, feelings and results of this discovery.
- You've been waiting for a break, good news, or some sign that the universe cares for you (for example: a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a clean bill of health, a job!). Imagine getting your wish answered. What would that news, wish or sign be? Describe it in detail as if it has actually happened.
- It's a gray day. Write about a universe where this is a welcomed event and sunny days are not.
- Write about what your biggest thrill would be when trying to save the world from invading aliens.
- Write about a lost treasure you discovered.
- What do you wish you did today?
- You're about to have your blood drawn. What are the doctors looking for and what is your worst fear about what they'll find?
- A new French bakery opens up in your neighborhood and it's filled with the most delicious croissants (filled with pistachios, chocolate or almond paste and sprinkled with nuts or delicate powders), popovers, tarts, and breads that you've ever seen. Pick one of the treats therein and describe your first bite.
- You're taking a brisk walk along the local river and notice something floating in the river that quite surprises you. What is it? Describe it and your reaction.
- Dwell on either the pros or cons of the discovery of another habitable planet.
- Now imagine that scientists have discovered a life-lenghthening gene or drug.
- You are being attacked by some sort of invader who is bombing and shooting mercilessly. What would you do and where would you go?
- Write about a situation where you are catching up on gossip with a friend or co-worker and realize, rather miserably, that you are the subject.
- Back to work day, and you are training a new recruit. What are the things you must tell this person and what are the things you think should be left to chance?
- Take an hour to write one sentence -- make it the best sentence ever.
